- A Settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit regarding certain Samsung top-load washing machines manufactured between March 2011 and October 2016 (the “Top-Load Washers”). Please click the “Included Top-Load Washers” tab at the top of this webpage to determine if your Top-Load Washer is included in the Settlement. The 15-digit serial number for your Top-Load Washer needs to be included in the range identified for your model to be included in the Settlement.
- The lawsuit was filed against Samsung Electronics America, Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (together, "Defendants"), and Best Buy Co., Inc., Home Depot U.S.A., Inc., The Home Depot, Inc., Lowe’s Companies, Inc., and Lowe’s Home Centers, LLC, (collectively, “Retailer Defendants”). The lawsuit alleges that the tops of the Top-Load Washers can detach during operation, and that the drain pumps of some of the Top-Load Washers can break or detach during operation. Defendants and Retailer Defendants deny all of the allegations in the lawsuit, and also deny that the Top-Load Washers are defective.
- The Top-Load Washers included in the Settlement were the subject of a voluntary recall initiated by Samsung on November 4, 2016 (the “Voluntary Recall”). To learn more about the Voluntary Recall, please visit Samsung’s dedicated Voluntary Recall website at www.samsung.com/US/TLW.
- The Settlement Class includes every resident of the United States and its territories who was the original purchaser of a new Top-Load Washer for household use.

This is the only way to get certain benefits described above, including for those that qualify and as provided by the Settlement, an Enhanced Minimum Recall Rebate, a Recall Repair Additional Benefit, and relief for a Top-Load Washer’s Top Separation or Drain Pump Failure that has occurred in the past. The claim deadline has passed. The Settlement became effective on October 28, 2021. Distribution of Settlement benefits to eligible Claimants is expected to begin in December 2021. |
EXCLUDE YOURSELF BY |
This is the only option that allows you to ever be part of another lawsuit against Defendants and/or Retailer Defendants about the legal claims resolved by this Settlement. If you exclude yourself from this Settlement, you will not be entitled to any of the benefits from this Settlement. The exclusion deadline has passed. |
